DescriptionProvost's Chain, 15ct gold, hall-marked Birmingham 1912-13. The badge shows the full arms of Keith Earl Marischal in the centre, surrounded by the shields of (clockwise from left) quarterly Petty and Fitzmaurice, Barclay, and Baird, all enamelled, the shields borne on on oval bordered with red enamel and fleur-de-lys bearing the inscription VERITAS VINCIT. BURGH OF STONEHAVEN; the whole is surmounted by a helmet with a black & white wreath, the mantling of which bears the loops for attaching to the chain. Nine heavy baroque-shaped double-sided shields, bearing the names of Provosts from 1889 to 1975, are linked with heavy gold chains. In original black case, base lined moulded green velvet, lid lined cream satin.
