Brass pommel, grip brown leather bound with brass wire. Scabbard of steel, with steel chape and two loose-ring ferrules. Maker's marks on the right ricasso. The Klingenthal inscription on the back blade has been overlaid with heavy incised markings, and crude markings have also been incised on the left side of the blade below the ricasso. The ricasso also carries an indistinct mark. These are possibly North African arsenal marks.
