DescriptionThis bronze medal depicts Henry William the Marquis of Anglesey in profile. The image is after a bust by Chantrey. On the reverse side the Marquis is shown leading a cavalry charge with the legend, 'Charge of the British at Waterloo'. The inscription in the exergue reads 'June XVIII, MDCCCXV.' (June 18 1815).
This medal is the thirty-fourth in James Mudie's series of forty 'National Medals' struck in 1820 to commemorate British victories in George III's reign. They commemorate the events of the Napoleonic period, from a British perspective.
