DescriptionCopy photograph of the railway accident at Inverythan, near Fyvie, on 27th November, 1882. The accident occurred when a faulty girder collapsed on a 39 ft by 15 ft single-track railway underbridge between Auchterless and Fyvie. The engine of the freight/passenger train (5 loaded wagons, 4 carriages) crossed safely, but most of the train fell into the gap onto a road below with eight (8) fatalities and fourteen (14) injured.
