Titlelongbow
Description'D'-form self bow of what is probably Degame wood (Lemonwood), horn upper nock and red velvet grip. Lower nock missing. The lower limb is bound thrice below the grip to strengthen the bow at a defect. 108lb draw-weight at full draw. The massive draw-weight could well have been acquired to shoot the longest distances in clout shooting, and bows of this force were used in medieval times to throw heavy shafts which would pierce armour and harass an enemy up to 300 yards distant. 19th century
