DescriptionLead ballast weight from "Santa Catarina", supposedly a Spanish ship wrecked off Collieston in 1594 whilst engaged in carrying arms for Francis Hay, 9th Earl of Erroll. In retaliation to the earl's involvement in this Catholic uprising, James VI blew up the earl's castle at Slains.
