DescriptionCylindrical, tapered coarseware kiln support, 14th-15th century, hand-thrown, marks of cheese-wire on base along with hole in the centre. Small amount of damage to upper rim, possibly blown during firing. Glazing material has at one point dripped onto the support leaving a trail of dried matter on the top and side. Label attached to the side of the support in Adam Arbuthnot's handwriting inscribed "Flower Pots found in excavating on the estate of Auchleuchries where a Pottery had been carried on about the year 1670. Peterhead."
